In my graduating
collection the Australian Impressionist Art Movement, involving artist such as
Tom Roberts, Frederick McCubbin and Aruthur Streeton, inspired me. These
artists are a first attempt at an aesthetic representation of the Australian
Landscape and national identity. The collection reflects the artist techniques
and applying them into a new media of fabric via experimental construction
methods. Layering of material, structural panels and drape reflecting the
technique of brush strokes and the palette knife. The highlighting colour
theory use of blue, orange and red make up the colour palette of the
collection, while contrasting stitching is used as attention to detail on the
garments.
